More specifically, the default Kubernetes redundancy concept involves multiple active replicas, which share the load among each other, and are independent. As a result, when a replica fails or the node on which it is running fails, other replicas can ensure continued service availability. This mechanism is well-suited for stateless services. However, this is not the case for stateful services having an internal state that needs to be preserved. In this thesis, you will explore and evaluate the use of tailored Kubernetes operators or alternative concepts to implement an active-standby failover mechanism with the support of a checkpoint and restore tool (e.g., CRIU). The target use case for this work is a critical infrastructure scenario, in particular power grids. Du studierst und suchst nach einem passenden Nebenjob? Du bist gut in den allgemeinen Schulfächern und möchtest dein Wissen weitergeben? Wenn du junge Lernende auf Ihrem Weg zum Abschluss unterstützen willst, dann bist du bei uns an der richtigen Stelle! Ab August 2022 oder nach Vereinbarung suchen wir für die Betreuung unserer Stützkurse in Pratteln eine/n neue/n Stützkursleiter*in für jeweils donnerstags von 17:00-20:00 Uhr sowie als Ferien- und Krankheitsaushilfe an den Montagabenden. Eine Lehre beim LBV ist mehr als nur eine Lehre. Die Lernenden erlernen ihren Wunschberuf in einem unserer Ausbildungsbetriebe und werden von den dort verantwortlichen Praxisbildnerinnen und -bildnern ausgebildet. Gleichzeitig begleiten wir die Lernenden während ihrer gesamten Lehrzeit und unterstützen sie bei allem, was sie während der Lehre erledigen und woran sie denken müssen. For business unit High Voltage Products in Zurich-Oerlikon, we are looking for an intern in interrupter development team. We are looking for an intern to contribute to the simulation team of our Research Center. Objective of the internship is to carry out mechanical and system simulations to evaluate the performances of circuit breakers as well as test data analysis and their utilization in the simulations. The studies will be carried out with the Dymola software and with in-house software library dedicated to system modeling and simulation of the circuit breakers. The scope of the internship will be also focused on the mechanical multibody (kinematic) analysis including finite element method. By interacting with experienced engineers and scientists, the intern will acquire basic knowledge regarding product technologies and become an active contributor to the relevant simulation activities.
